BIBLE FACTS OF THE DAY

Mathew 5:5

Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.

This is the third blessing or saying of Christ found in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 5 called the Sermon on the Mount. These are the eight fold blessings v3-10, that are inherited by a true follower of Christ. Our focus today will be on v5. Biblical meekness is essentially an attitude or quality of heart whereby a person is willing to accept and submit without resistance to the will and desire of God. A perfect example of showing meekness is Jesus Christ Himself. The special blessing that Jesus is talking about the gentle or lowly people is that they shall inherit the earth. For now the meek will inherit abuse and dispossession. When will the meek inherit the earth you might ask? I am glad that you’ve asked. The meek will inherit the earth during the thousand year millennium rule of Jesus Christ.

The day is coming when all the wrongs of earth will be righted. At that time the evildoers shall be cut off and the trusting believers will possess all the blessings Jesus has promised. In that day the meek shall inherit the earth and thoroughly enjoy its unprecedented prosperity. For the church it will begin when the Savior descends into the clouds to catch away His saints and take them to their heavenly home. Let us humble ourselves today and meditate on practicing meekness for they are the only ones who shall inherit the earth. In Jesus name! Amen.
