GENESIS 5:1-32
5 This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. ………

There are ten generations from Adam to Noah, with Noah being the tenth patriarch, according to the lineage recorded in Genesis 5 verses 1 through 32. The listed generations are Adam, Seth, Enosh, Cainan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, and finally Noah.
Here is the list of the ten generations:
Noah
Adam
Seth
Enosh
Cainan
Mahalaleel
Jared
Enoch
Methuselah
Lamech
Wickedness of man
In Genesis 6:5, the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Why is this so?
It is because of Cain, the first born son of Adam. There’s an enormous distinction between the first born son of Adam, Cain and the third born son of Adam, Seth.
Cain the first born son of Adam, turned out to be a wanderer without the presence of God. And to Seth, Enosh was born. During that time as the scripture declares in Genesis 4:26, that men began to call on the name of the Lord. As the men began to call on the name of the Lord on Seth’s lineage, the sixth generation from Cain, according to Genesis 4:22, Tubal Cain became a forger of every cutting instrument of bronze and iron.
The Bible does not mention anything about Cain or his side of the lineage calling on the name of the Lord. This is important because two brothers one good that is Seth and the other evil, Cain chose different paths. Seth chose the path of righteous and the other chose the path of evil.
1 John 3:11-12 says this:
11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, 12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.
After Tubal Cain, the Bible never records further generations of Cain. It is because these generations followed Cain’s attitude.
Lamech:
Genesis 4:23 describes that Lamech, a fifth generation descendent of Cain, killed two men just for wounding and hurting him. This is the kind of lineage we read of Cain. Yes, there are two different men named Lamech in the Book of Genesis: one from the line of Cain, known for his violent and vengeful nature and for being the first polygamist, and another from the line of Seth, who is the father of Noah and is noted for his faithful hope in God.
Genesis chapter 6:
The reason God brought the flood was to cleanse the earth because mankind had become overwhelmingly wicked, their hearts filled with only evil thoughts, and their lives characterized by violence and corruption. The Genesis account describes widespread sin and rebellion, corrupting all flesh. God’s judgment through the flood was a way to wipe out this rampant evil, preserving a remnant of humanity through Noah and his family to restart a righteous lineage on the Earth.
God ended the lineage of Cain because of his rebellious heart against the love of God. He harbored wickedness in his heart. No one can harbor hate that leads to wickedness. If anyone lives a wicked life then there’s no place for the love of God. Just like God destroyed man’s corruptness during Noah’s time, a time is coming soon that every evil action, and every slander that men speak will be brought into light and will be judged by the Man, who has been appointed by God. He has been given the authority over all the flesh since the beginning of the creation until the end of time.
His name is Lord Jesus Christ. No one can escape from His judgement. Blessed be His name. Amen.
