DISCERNMENT

To every born again believer God gives the ability to discern between good and evil and to discern between right and wrong. Now what does it mean to discern between good and evil? You see before a person is saved, they have no understanding of who God is. Currently there are estimates of ten thousand or more religions existing in the world. Not every religion can explain how the creation came about into existence. Or can they prove how man was created.

For example, the atheists don’t have a definitive answer of how man came into existence. According to the atheist, humans came to exist on Earth through a process of evolution, where life gradually developed from simpler organisms over millions of years, driven by natural selection and environmental factors, with no divine intervention involved; essentially, the prevailing scientific theory of evolution is the explanation for human existence without a creator. 

Let’s say that we agree with the atheist statement on man’s evolution, then how does the atheist explain about the various creatures like animals, birds and sea creatures on the planet called Earth? Or how do they explain about the Solar system. Or on what basis does the earth completes its rotation around the Sun? Did you know the Earth orbits around the Sun at a speed of about 67,000 miles per hour (107,000 km/hr or nearly 30 km/s). At the same time, Earth spins on its axis at about 1,000 miles per hour (460 m/s or 1,600 km/hr). 

These are just a few things that is beyond human comprehension. So, in order to know who God is, God Himself must give that person the discernment. To know between good and evil is to know God. There are countless number of lower case ‘g’ gods that men worship. There’s only one true God and He can be discerned only through His Son Lord Jesus Christ. If anyone does not know Christ, then he or she cannot know who God is.

Galatians 4:8 says this:

⁸ But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods.

People will never know the God, the Creator of this Universe if they don’t serve Jesus Christ. Not trying to be rude but it is the truth.
