Matthew 2:11
11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him.
Matthew 2:1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem,
The Bible does not give information as to who these wise men were. The only description is that they were coming from the East. Also, there’s no information as to how many were there and their origin. It could be a large entourage. Verse 11, describes that Jesus was living in a house by that time. Whoever these wise men were, they were closely following the arrival of the Messiah. These men were wealthy because they carried gold, frankincense, and myrrh and in those days only rich people could afford it. A person encountering Jesus Christ, will fall down and worship Him, no matter who they are, whether a king, or queen, a president, a ruler or any influential person for that matter, they will have to kneel before the Lord and confess that Jesus is Lord.
The wise men after traveling for an unspecified time and after seeing the young Child not only fell down and worshipped Our Lord Jesus but also opened their treasures and presented gifts of Gold as a symbol of deity and glory; it speaks of the shining perfection of Jesus divine Person, Frankincense as an ointment or perfume; it suggests the fragrance of the life of sinless perfection. Myrrh a bitter herb; it presages the sufferings of Christ the Messiah would endure in bearing the sins of the world.
Hebrews 2:10-11 says: 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Let us all glorify the Father by meditating on His promises and confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord of all! No matter what our worldly status is. In Jesus name! Amen.
Maranatha!
