1 Peter 1:15
15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
The Biblical definition of God’s holiness is his defining characteristic. It’s a term used in the Bible to describe both his goodness and his power. It is completely unique and utterly all-powerful, radiating from God like an energy. In fact, God’s holiness is so overwhelming that it can actually be dangerous to approach. When God made the heavens and the earth He had one thing in mind, holiness. Holiness means being set apart. Nothing unholy will ever come in contact with God’s holiness.
God who is holy, calls us to be holy in all our conduct. Once we are converted through faith in Christ, we begin the process of sanctification, or growth in holiness, through the renewal of our minds through Scripture, and the corresponding changes in our conduct, so that we learn to please God with our lives. Conduct is not something on Sundays being polite in the church and then live a life of wolf during the weekdays and the following week attend the church as a sheep. Following Christ is not an easy task. If someone says it is a piece of cake, please do not believe them. To follow Christ sometimes can be overwhelming. To follow Christ means having to let go everything that drags them down and be united with Jesus Christ. Being holy means to live a separated life from the world in order to live with Jesus Christ and for God. Then only lives will be in the right order. No more chaotic life. The scriptures teach us that without holiness one cannot see God. Choose today who you want to be separated from? God or the World? Let us live as a set apart believers in holiness for God. In Jesus name! Amen.
