God’s Word of the Day September 29 2023 Seek the Lord while He may be found

Isaiah 55:6

Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.

Today we will see what it means to call upon Him while He is near. God has given to each one us the ability to hear and understand. Take a typical scenario. New born babies learn to recognize their parents relatively quickly. When the baby cries the mother knows that it is time to feed and change the diapers. If the baby does not cry then there is something wrong with that baby. The baby knows that the mother is close by and is able hear when the baby cries. What if the baby cries and the mother is far away? The baby can cry as much as possible and as loud as possible but if there is no one who can attend to the needs of that baby, then that baby will starve to death.

This is the case of any person who has been given a great opportunity by God to call upon Him so that God would go to Him and attend to man’s need. Now when I say need, it is about needing God. That is to tell God that we are helpless and desperately need God’s help to set us free from sin and slavery. Just like only the mother of a baby can satisfy the hunger of that baby, God alone can satisfy the hunger and thirst of a believer. There are millions of people that die every minute around the world. Some of them could have lived an arrogant life, a rebellious life, murderers and others like those who believed in themselves, those who worshipped idols their entire life, the philosophers, the atheists, those who believed in an ideology like communism and the like, and those who lied time and time again and million other types. Every one of them mentioned here, God gave them the chance of a lifetime to call upon His name. He was so close to them. Had any one of them called upon Him while He was near, the Lord would have gladly entered into that person and made him His temple of God.

Countless number of times every person will be given an opportunity to encounter God but man chooses to reject God willingly. By choice we all do things our own way without needing God. Either because of traditions, family pressure or simply too busy allocating time in finding God. There will be a point of time in every person’s life that life will pass away in front of their very own eyes. Let me give you an incident from the scriptures.

Jesus Christ was crucified between two thieves on the cross. The two thieves committed crimes that lead them to be crucified on the cross. They both lead similar lives cheating and perhaps robbing people. Both of them had limited time on this earth. But one of them called upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and asked Him to remember him as both the thieves were near to Christ. When Jesus heard one of the thief’s plea, He immediately forgave the thief. Not only did Christ forgave the thief but gave him the assurance that the thief will be with Jesus Christ in Paradise.

This is how our Lord responds when we call on His Name.

So, let us all seek the Lord while He may be found. Call on His Name while He is near.

Have you received the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus? It is not too late. The Bible in Romans chapter 10 and verse 13 says this:

Romans 10:13

13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

In Jesus precious name! Amen.

Maranatha!
