DISCERNMENT

The Gospel of John chapter one and verse seventeen declares that the law was given through Moses but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. Does that mean grace did not exist before the coming of Christ? Not at all. Grace existed even before the ends of heaven and earth were created by God. God is a triune God. Meaning He is One in three Persons. And three Persons in One. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. This is called the Holy Trinity. They existed before anything was formed by God.

We see this written in many places of the Bible also called the Word of God.

1 John 5:7

⁷ For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 

Lord Jesus Christ is the Word. The world was created in the beginning by the grace of God. When God spoke the Word released by God was Christ Jesus. If Jesus Christ is Grace, then the Word spoken by God was filled with grace. Apostle John emphasizes this in his Gospel.

John 1:3

³ All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Early on in the Garden of Eden, it was the grace of God that spared Adam and Eve from the wrath of God. It was the grace of God that spared Cain’s life even after murdering his own blood brother Abel. Then we see in:

Genesis 6:8

⁸ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

You see, God the Father and God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are Three in One. One does not exist without the Other. Discerning the grace of God is a gift of God to His children. Only the Holy Spirit can teach the believer to discern between the good and evil. For He indwells in us.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
