Bible Facts Of The Day, December 11, 2024 The First Advent of Jesus Christ

As we read the passage written in Luke chapter two and verse seven, Luke writes that the firstborn Son was wrapped in swaddling cloths and was laid in a manger.

Let us first examine the word swaddling. It means to wrap. In Biblical times young lambs that were to be sacrificed were wrapped in swaddling cloths and then the swaddled lamb was laid in a stone feed trough, a manger, to protect it from harm. It was custom that the firstborn male lamb was swaddled in cloth and placed in a manger as it was examined for blemishes. The sacrificial lamb was to be free of physical defects.

It is not surprising to see the Son of God in swaddling cloths and laid in a manger. Because He was the Lamb that was slayed even before the foundations of the earth was laid out. As it says in the Book of Revelation.

Sometimes God creates a circumstance to show His glory in our lives. As we look at the life of Mary who was a young virgin betrothed to marry Joseph minding her own business. Angel Gabriel appears and tells her to rejoice for the Lord highly favored her among many woman.

God is the One who favors His children. If you are one of the chosen one remember, God highly favors you. If God highly favors you over others, then rejoice always in the Lord.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
