Bible Facts Of The Day, October 22, 2025 The Name Above Every Name

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…”

a. The Meaning of “the Name”

  • In Scripture, a name represents a person’s character, authority, and reputation.
  • The name “Jesus” means “The Lord saves.” It carries the full power of God’s salvation.
  • Because of His obedience to death on the cross, God exalted His name above every name (Phil. 2:9).

b. The Power of His Name

  • Demons tremble at His name (James 2:19).
  • Salvation is found in His name (Acts 4:12).
  • Prayers are answered through His name (John 14:13–14).

Application:
When you face trials, call on the name of Jesus.
His name still has power to save, heal, and deliver.

“…of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.”

a. The Universality of Christ’s Lordship

  • Paul lists three realms to show Christ’s total authority:
    1. Heaven – all angels and saints bow before Him.
    2. Earth – every human being will acknowledge Him, willingly or unwillingly.
    3. Under the earth – even demonic powers will submit to His authority.

b. The Inevitability of Submission

  • Whether people believe it or not, every knee will bow.
  • Some bow in adoration now; others will bow in judgment later.
  • The question is not if we will bow, but when and how.

Application:
Bow your heart to Jesus now — willingly, joyfully, and humbly.
One day, all creation will recognize His authority.

“…and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…”

a. The Confession of Faith

  • To confess means to openly declare and agree with the truth.
  • Confessing “Jesus Christ is Lord” is the central declaration of the Christian faith (Romans 10:9).
  • This confession is not mere words — it is a declaration of surrender to His rule.

b. The Lordship of Jesus

  • “Lord” (Greek Kyrios) means Master, Ruler, Sovereign.
  • He is not just Savior but Lord overall.
  • True faith confesses both — Jesus saves us and rules us.

Application:
Don’t just believe in Jesus for salvation — submit to Him as Lord.
Let your life, words, and actions confess that He reigns.

“…to the glory of God the Father.”

a. Father’s Delight in the Son

  • God is glorified when Jesus is honored.
  • Christ’s exaltation fulfills the Father’s eternal plan of redemption.
  • When we worship Jesus, we bring joy to the Father.

b. Our Purpose: To Glorify God

  • The ultimate purpose of creation and redemption is God’s glory.
  • Everything we do — worship, service, obedience — should point back to Him.

Application:
Live in a way that glorifies God — through your worship, your work, and your witness.

Conclusion:

  • The name of Jesus is above every name.
  • Every knee will bow.
  • Every tongue will confess.
  • All will be to the glory of God the Father.

Let us bow now, willingly and reverently, confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord!

“Heavenly Father, we thank You for exalting the name of Jesus above every name. Teach us to live humbly under His lordship and to glorify You in all we do. May our lives be a continual confession that Jesus Christ is Lord — to Your glory forever. Amen.”
