LORD
The word Lord is mentioned close to seven thousand times in the Bible. The word with all caps, LORD means Jehovah or YWVH. Lord is a title of God that only applies to God. But many men add the title “Lord” before their names. In British society, the title of “Lord” is used to refer to members of the peerage, a social class of nobles that includes dukes, marquesses, earls, viscounts, and barons.
Lord means the One who has the power and master over all things. Only God has the power to subdue all things because all things were made by Him. He has the power to create and He has the power to destroy. All things that are visible and all things that are invisible are subject to Him.
Genesis 2:4 says:
4 This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
Jesus Christ calls Himself the Lord in the New Testament. Here Lord means Adon in Hebrew also translated to ruler in English language.
Luke 19:31:
31 And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’ ”
Another place in scripture. Lord Jesus Christ is described as the Lord of lords and King of kings.
Revelation 17:14
14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”
The same God who was in the beginning is the same Lord Jesus Christ. He has the same authority as the Father has. Because Lord Jesus and the Father are One.
Lord Jesus said this in John 10:30:
30 I and My Father are one.”
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
Maranatha!
