• Covenant Relationship: The idea of Israel as God’s inheritance stems from God’s covenant with Abraham, in which He promised the land of Canaan as an enduring possession for the descendants of Jacob. 

Dual Meaning of “Inheritance”

The Land: The inheritance also encompasses the geographical land of Israel (Canaan), which was promised to the Israelites as their homeland. 

The People: The inheritance can refer to the people of Israel themselves, whom God calls “My son, My firstborn” in Exodus 4:22. 

Sovereignty of God: The verse asserts God’s ultimate control over all adversity, ensuring that any plans made against His people will not succeed.
