Luke 2:38
38 And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
As it is mentioned in the Scriptures, there was woman named Anna. She was a prophetess and belonged to the tribe of Asher. She was living in the premises of the temple and was serving God by fasting and prayers night and day.
When she saw the Baby Jesus, she gave thanks and spoke of Him to those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem. Jerusalem in those days was under the rule of Roman Empire. The Jews were persecuted by the Romans from time to time. This was the time that the Jews were looking for a redeemer to be liberated from their oppressions.
When Anna spoke about the redemption of Jerusalem, Jesus was a newly born Baby. Yet God revealed to her that this young Baby Jesus would one day redeem His people. How do we know that Christ came to redeem those who were under the bondage of sin and especially those were living in Jerusalem?
As we read in the Book of Acts, we see that Jesus Christ released His anointing power to His disciples by proclaiming this:
Acts 1:8
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Lord Jesus Christ begins His Gospel to be spread first to Jerusalem and then to Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth. The Word of God or the Bible is such a Book that no other book of this world can dominate it.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
