Luke 2:32
A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles,
And the glory of Your people Israel.”
Lord Jesus Christ speaking to the scribes and the Pharisees in the Gospel of John said that He is the light of this world. And He who follows Christ shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.
In the world we live in there are two kinds of light that we are used to. One is the God made light and the other is the man made light. The sun that comes out every morning is the God made light. The lights that we use in our homes and other places are man made. But there is a greater light than these two. That Light is Lord Jesus Christ. He is brighter than the sun and the man made lights. His light shines in the most darkest place and the darkness cannot comprehend it.
There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and spoke the words in Luke chapter two and verse thirty two.
Jesus fulfilled what was spoken by Simeon in the temple. Jesus was the light to bring revelation to the gentiles and glory to the Israelites. But the people of Israel rejected Christ. The people who were walking in the darkness have seen a great light.
Isaiah 9:2
The people who walked in darkness
Have seen a great light;
Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,
Upon them a light has shined.
Prophet Isaiah spoke these prophetic words about Christ seven hundred years before Christ’s arrival. What is common between Isaiah and Simeon, the two servants of God? It is the Holy Spirit that revealed to them.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
