PART 3 — “THE TEARS IN GETHSEMANE”

    Introduction

Before the cross came the garden.

In Gethsemane, Jesus entered the darkest spiritual battle of His earthly life.

His tears revealed the weight of what He was about to carry.

    1. Jesus Faced the Cup of Wrath

    The cup represented:

    • sin,
    • judgment,
    • wrath,
    • and separation.

The sinless Son of God was preparing to bear the sins of the world.

    2. His Tears Reveal the Cost of Salvation

Salvation is free to us—but it cost Jesus everything.

The agony of Christ was not merely physical.

    He carried:

    • our shame,
    • guilt,
    • curse,
    • rebellion,
    • and condemnation.

    3. Jesus Submitted Fully to the Father

“Not My will, but Yours, be done.”

    True surrender is costly.

The tears of Gethsemane teach believers how to obey God even when obedience hurts.

    4. Victory Was Won Before the Cross

Jesus conquered in prayer before He conquered at Calvary.

    Many battles are won:

    • in prayer,
    • in surrender,
    • in secret places before God.

    Conclusion

Gethsemane reveals the suffering love of Christ.

Every tear in the garden declared:
“I will go to the cross for them.”

    Closing Prayer

    Father God,
We stand in awe of the suffering of Your beloved Son in the garden of Gethsemane. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for drinking the cup that we deserved to drink. Thank You for enduring agony, sorrow, and tears so that we could receive salvation and eternal life.

Teach us true surrender. Help us to say, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” Strengthen us in moments of weakness and teach us to seek victory through prayer.

Lord, break every chain of sin, fear, and compromise in our lives. Give us grace to obey You even when the path is difficult.

May the power of the cross transform us completely. Let our hearts become fully devoted to You.

We honor the Lamb of God who suffered for the sins of the world.

In the precious name of Jesus,
    Amen.

    Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
