BIBLE FACTS OF THE DAY

  • Bible Facts Of The Day, January 23, 2026 “WHEN GOD SHAKES HEAVEN AND EARTH”

    January 23rd, 2026

    INTRODUCTION

    • Hebrews 12 contrasts Mount Sinai (fear, law) with Mount Zion (grace, kingdom).
    • Verse 26 reminds us of God’s power to shake creation, both physical and spiritual.
    • God’s shaking is purposeful: to remove the temporary and reveal the eternal.

    I. GOD’S VOICE IS POWERFUL (v.26a)

“Whose voice then shook the earth…”

    • Refers to God speaking at Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:18).
    • Demonstrates God’s authority over creation and human life.
    • Even nature responds to God’s word.

    Application:

    • Respect God’s voice in Scripture—it is not powerless.
    • God’s warnings, guidance, and commands are real and transformative.

II. GOD’S PROMISE EXTENDS BEYOND EARTH (v.26b)

    “But now He has promised…”

    • Transition from past acts to future promise.
    • God is preparing a final, universal shaking: not just earth, but heaven too.
    • Signals judgment and purification of everything temporary.

    Application:

    • Nothing can ultimately resist God’s will—physical or spiritual.
    • Trust in God’s sovereignty even when life feels unstable.

III. THE FINAL SHAKING IS PURPOSEFUL (v.26c)

“Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”

    • “Yet once more” = decisive, final act.
    • Removes what is temporary, false, or unstable.
    • Prepares for what cannot be shaken to remain (v.27).

    Application:

    • Examine what in your life is temporary vs. eternal.
    • Anchor yourself in God’s unshakable kingdom.

    IV. PRACTICAL LESSONS FOR BELIEVERS

    1. Trust in God’s power—He controls history and creation.
    2. Do not rely on the temporary—earthly security is fragile.
    3. Anchor in Christ—He is unshakable and eternal.
    4. Prepare for God’s refinement—His shaking removes distractions, sin, and false confidence.

    CONCLUSION

    • God shook Sinai to reveal His holiness; He will shake heaven and earth to reveal what lasts.
    • Believers are called to stand firm in faith, focusing on eternal realities.
    • Let us cling to the unshakable kingdom of God and rejoice in His sovereign plan.

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” (Hebrews 12:28).

    Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
