The crushing is not punishment—it is preparation.

Introduction

Gethsemane means “oil press.”

Olives were crushed there until oil flowed.

Jesus entered Gethsemane to experience the crushing weight of humanity’s sin.

1. The Greatest Battles Are Internal

Jesus battled:

• Fear
• Sorrow
• Agony

Yet He remained sinless.

2. God Often Uses Pressure to Produce Spiritual Oil

Pressure produces:

• Character
• Compassion
• Humility
• Dependence

3. The Oil Flows Only After Crushing

Many want anointing without pressure.

But throughout Scripture, God uses broken vessels.

Application

Your greatest pain may become your greatest ministry.

Closing Challenge

Do not despise the crushing.

God is producing something eternal.

Heavenly Father,

When the pressures of life seem overwhelming and the weight of our burdens becomes heavy, help us to remember that You are at work even in the crushing. Just as oil flows from the pressed olive, let Your grace, strength, and character flow through us in our trials.

Lord, do not let suffering make us bitter; let it make us better. Use every hardship to deepen our faith, refine our hearts, and draw us closer to Jesus. Give us the strength to trust You when we do not understand and the courage to remain faithful when the road is difficult.

May the crushing produce the fragrance of Christ in our lives and bring glory to Your name.
