Bible Facts Of The Day, April 27, 2026 “A World Full of Voices – Test the Spirits”

Introduction

We are living in a time where voices are everywhere.
Social media, pulpits, podcasts, influencers—everyone claims to speak truth.

But the question is not:
“Who is speaking?”
The question is:
“What spirit is behind what is being spoken?”

The Apostle John, writing in the First Epistle of John, does not warn unbelievers—he warns believers.

“Beloved…”
This is a warning to the church.

1. The Danger: Not Every Spirit is from God

“Do not believe every spirit…”

That means:

  • Not every preacher is from God
  • Not every miracle is from God
  • Not every “feeling” is from God

Spirits influence:

  • Teachings
  • Thoughts
  • Movements

Even in the days of the early church, deception was already spreading.

John says: “Many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

Not a few.
Many.

2. The Command: Test the Spirits

God does not call us to blind faith.
He calls us to discernment.

“Test the spirits…”

To “test” means:

  • Examine
  • Discern
  • Evaluate

Just like gold is tested by fire,
truth must be tested by the Word of God.

3. The Standard: Jesus Christ

The next verses give the key test:

Does it confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh?

This is the dividing line.

  • True Spirit → Exalts Jesus Christ
  • False Spirit → Distorts or denies Him

Any spirit that:

  • Reduces Jesus
  • Replaces Jesus
  • Redefines Jesus

Is not from God.

4. The Reality: Deception is Spiritual, Not Just Intellectual

This is not just about wrong ideas—
this is about spiritual influence.

Behind false teaching is a spirit.

That’s why:

  • You can feel something powerful and still be deceived
  • You can hear something convincing and still be wrong

Not everything supernatural is from God.

5. The Responsibility of the Believer

Notice—John does not say:
“Pastors, test the spirits.”

He says:
“Beloved… YOU test.”

Every believer must:

  • Know the Word
  • Walk in the Spirit
  • Develop discernment

You cannot outsource discernment.

6. The Protection: Abiding in Truth

Later in this chapter, John says:

“He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

The Holy Spirit inside you is your protection.

When you:

  • Stay in the Word
  • Stay in prayer
  • Stay close to Christ

You will recognize truth from error.

7. A Prophetic Warning for Today

We are living in a generation where:

  • Truth is being redefined
  • False gospels are being preached
  • Jesus is being reshaped to fit culture

But the Word of God still stands.

Not everything labeled “Christian” is from Christ.

Conclusion: Discern or Be Deceived

The choice is clear:

  • If you do not test, you will be deceived
  • If you discern, you will stand firm

God is not asking you to be suspicious of everything—
He is calling you to be spiritually awake.

Examine what you hear.
Test what you receive.
Measure everything by Christ.

Because in the last days:
Deception will be strong—but truth will still prevail.

Closing Prayer

Lord, give us discernment in a world full of deception.
Help us to test every spirit and hold fast to what is true.
Keep us grounded in Your Word and sensitive to Your Spirit.
Let us not be led by feelings, but by truth.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
