Bible Facts Of The Day, May 3, 2026 “True Worship in Spirit and Truth”

1. The Nature of God: “God is Spirit”

When Jesus speaks these words in Gospel of John, He is not giving a suggestion—He is revealing reality. God is not confined to temples, buildings, or rituals. He is Spirit—eternal, invisible, all-present.

This means:

  • You cannot limit God to a location
  • You cannot reduce Him to an image
  • You cannot contain Him in religious routines

The Samaritan woman was concerned about where to worship—on this mountain or in Jerusalem. But Jesus shifts the focus from location to revelation.

Worship is not about where you are—it is about who God is.

2. The Requirement: “Must Worship”

Jesus uses a strong word—“must.”
This is not optional. This is divine necessity.

God is not looking for:

  • Occasional worshipers
  • Emotional worshipers
  • Ritualistic worshipers

He is seeking true worshipers.

 Worship is not entertainment.
 Worship is not performance.
Worship is a response to revelation.

3. Worship in Spirit

To worship in spirit means:

  • It comes from the inner man
  • It is alive, not mechanical
  • It is empowered by the Holy Spirit

You can sing songs and still not worship.
You can sit in church and still be far from God.

True worship begins when:

  • Your heart aligns with God
  • Your soul responds to His presence
  • Your spirit connects with His Spirit

As written in Romans 8:16, the Spirit bears witness with our spirit.

Worship is not external first—it is internal first.

4. Worship in Truth

Truth is not an idea—Truth is a Person.

Jesus said in Gospel of John 14:6,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

To worship in truth means:

  • Worship according to who God truly is
  • Worship based on His Word, not feelings
  • Worship through Jesus Christ, the only mediator

You cannot worship God in falsehood and expect acceptance.
You cannot redefine God and call it worship.

True worship is rooted in revelation, not imagination.

5. The Danger of False Worship

There are many today who:

  • Worship out of tradition
  • Worship out of emotion
  • Worship out of habit

But Jesus warns that such worship can be empty.

Even in Gospel of Matthew 15:8,
“These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.”

God is not impressed by lips—He examines the heart.

6. The Call to Transformation

True worship changes you.

When you worship in spirit and truth:

  • Your desires begin to change
  • Your priorities shift
  • Your life reflects God’s glory

Worship is not just what you do on Sunday—
It is how you live every day.

 Your life becomes the altar.
 Your obedience becomes the sacrifice.

Closing Exhortation

God is searching.

Not for crowds.
Not for noise.
Not for performance.

He is searching for true worshipers.

Will you be one?

Will you lay aside:

  • Religious routine
  • Empty tradition
  • Surface-level faith

And come before Him:

  • With a broken spirit
  • With a truthful heart
  • With total surrender

Closing Prayer

Father, You are Spirit, and we desire to worship You rightly. Strip away everything that is false within us. Remove every distraction, every form of empty religion, and teach us to worship You in spirit and in truth. Let our hearts burn for You. Let our lives reflect You. And let our worship be acceptable in Your sight through Jesus Christ.
Amen.
