Introduction: The Danger of “Another Gospel”
The greatest danger to the Church is not atheism. It is not persecution. It is not the world. The greatest danger is a gospel that looks close to the truth but subtly replaces the finished work of Jesus Christ with human requirements, religious systems, and extra-biblical authority.
The apostle Paul warned:
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.” — Galatians 1:8
Many sincere people within Seventh-day Adventism love morality, health, prophecy, and the Bible. Yet sincerity alone does not save. The question is not: Are they sincere? The question is: Does the doctrine align fully with the Gospel of Jesus Christ revealed in Scripture?
True Christianity stands upon one foundation:
- Salvation by grace alone
- Through faith alone
- In Christ alone
- According to Scripture alone
Anything that adds to the finished work of Christ becomes spiritually dangerous.
1. The Gospel of Christ Is Complete
The Bible declares that Jesus finished the work of salvation completely at the cross.
Jesus cried:
“It is finished!” — John 19:30
True Christianity teaches:
- Christ’s sacrifice was fully sufficient
- The believer is justified completely by faith
- No law-keeping can add to salvation
The problem arises when salvation becomes connected to:
- Sabbath observance
- Dietary laws
- Investigative judgment
- End-times law-keeping requirements
Paul spoke directly against returning believers to Old Covenant bondage.
“You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.” — Galatians 5:4
The cross does not need human assistance.
The blood of Jesus is enough.
2. The Sabbath Was a Shadow — Christ Is the Reality
One of the central teachings of Seventh-day Adventism is mandatory seventh-day Sabbath observance.
But the New Testament teaches something greater.
The Sabbath under Moses pointed forward to Christ Himself.
Paul writes:
“So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.” — Colossians 2:16–17
The Sabbath was a shadow.
Jesus is the fulfillment.
True rest is not found in a calendar day.
True rest is found in the Person of Jesus Christ.
Rest in Christ alone
The writer of Hebrews declares:
“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.” — Hebrews 4:9
That rest is spiritual rest through faith in Christ.
The early Church gathered on the first day of the week in honor of Christ’s resurrection:
- Acts 20:7
- 1 Corinthians 16:2
The New Covenant never commands Gentile believers to keep the seventh-day Sabbath as a condition of salvation.
3. The Investigative Judgment Undermines Assurance
One of the most serious doctrines in Seventh-day Adventism is the “Investigative Judgment,” teaching that Christ entered a heavenly phase of judgment in 1844.
But the Bible says believers already have assurance in Christ.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” — Romans 8:1
True Christianity teaches:
- Christ’s blood cleanses fully
- Salvation is secure in Him
- Believers are justified now
The Bible never teaches that believers must pass an ongoing heavenly review process to determine final salvation.
Instead, Scripture says:
“For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.” — Hebrews 10:14
Forever perfected.
That is the power of the Gospel.
4. Extra-Biblical Authority Is Dangerous
True Christianity stands on Scripture alone.
But Seventh-day Adventism gives major authority to the writings of Ellen G. White.
Whenever any movement elevates a modern prophet alongside Scripture, danger enters.
The Bible warns:
“Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” — Proverbs 30:6
Jesus never said:
- “Follow later prophets.”
- “Wait for another messenger.”
- “Additional revelations are necessary.”
The Holy Spirit already revealed the complete Gospel through the apostles.
“The faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” — Jude 1:3
Once for all.
The Gospel does not need updating.
5. Christianity Is About Christ — Not Religious Identity
Many religious systems create fear:
- Fear of worshiping on the wrong day
- Fear of missing end-times signs
- Fear of failing religious standards
But true Christianity centers on a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Salvation is not:
- Sabbath keeping
- Dietary observance
- Denominational membership
- Prophetic charts
Salvation is a Person.
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” — Acts 4:12
That name is Jesus Christ.
6. The Real Issue: Grace vs Law
The battle throughout the New Testament is always the same:
Grace versus law.
The Pharisees added rules.
The Judaizers added Moses.
Modern religious systems add requirements.
But the Gospel says:
“For by grace you have been saved through faith… not of works.” — Ephesians 2:8–9
The moment human effort becomes part of justification, the purity of the Gospel is corrupted.
Conclusion: Come Back to the Cross
This is not a call to hate Seventh-day Adventists.
This is a call to discern doctrine Biblically.
Many sincere people inside religious systems have never experienced the freedom of the true Gospel.
Jesus did not die to place believers back under religious bondage.
He died to set captives free.
The true Gospel proclaims:
- Christ alone
- Grace alone
- Faith alone
- Scripture alone
Do not place your confidence in:
- a denomination,
- a prophet,
- a dietary code,
- or a calendar day.
Place your confidence fully in the crucified and risen Son of God.
Because when Jesus said:
“It is finished”
He meant exactly what He said.
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
