Bible Facts Of The Day, June 16, 2026 “The Savior Who Came to Save – Part I”

Part I: The Heart of God — Mercy Greater Than Judgment

Introduction

Many people imagine God as an angry Judge waiting to punish every failure. Yet John 3:17 reveals something astonishing: before God executes final judgment, He extends mercy. The mission of Christ’s first coming was not condemnation but salvation.

The same God who is perfectly holy is also perfectly loving. His justice is real, but so is His compassion. The cross demonstrates that God does not ignore sin; He deals with it by placing its penalty upon His own Son.

1. God Initiated the Rescue

Humanity did not seek God first; God sought humanity.

  • Adam and Eve hid after they sinned, but God came looking for them.
  • Israel repeatedly wandered, yet God pursued them through the prophets.
  • Finally, God sent His own Son into the world.

Salvation begins with God’s initiative. Before we cried out for mercy, His plan of redemption was already in motion.

2. Christ Came With Open Hands, Not a Raised Sword

Jesus healed the sick, forgave sinners, welcomed outcasts, and invited the weary to come to Him. His earthly ministry reflected the Father’s compassionate heart.

The purpose of His first coming was to provide a way of escape from judgment through repentance and faith.

3. Mercy Is Not Weakness

God’s mercy is costly. The forgiveness we receive was purchased through the suffering of Christ on the cross. Divine love did not overlook sin—it bore its penalty.

Application

  • Stop believing that God delights in your destruction.
  • Understand that His invitation is genuine.
  • Respond to His grace while the door of mercy remains open.

Closing Challenge

Today is an opportunity to receive God’s saving love rather than resist it. The Savior has come near.
