Part II: The Cross — Where Justice and Love Meet
Introduction
John 3:17 cannot be separated from the cross. Christ came to save by offering Himself as the sacrifice for sinners.
1. The Innocent Died for the Guilty
Jesus lived without sin, yet willingly took the punishment deserved by humanity.
At the cross:
- Justice was satisfied.
- Mercy was extended.
- Grace flowed freely to all who believe.
2. The Value of Christ’s Sacrifice Is Infinite
Because Jesus is the eternal Son of God, His sacrifice possesses immeasurable worth. His atonement is sufficient for every nation, every tribe, every language, and every sinner who comes to Him in faith.
No sin is too great for the blood of Christ to cleanse when there is genuine repentance and trust in Him.
3. Salvation Must Be Personally Received
Although Christ died for the world, each individual must personally respond to the gospel.
Faith is not merely intellectual agreement; it is entrusting oneself completely to Jesus Christ.
Illustration
A cure may exist for every patient in a hospital, but it only benefits those who receive it. Likewise, Christ’s finished work must be embraced by faith.
Application
Ask yourself:
- Have I trusted in Christ alone?
- Am I relying on religious works or on His finished work?
- Have I accepted God’s gift of salvation?
Closing Challenge
The cross stands as history’s greatest declaration that God desires to save rather than condemn all who come to Him through Christ.
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
