PART III-B — THE LAMB WILL OVERCOME

The Lamb Who Was Slain Is Coming as King

Revelation 17:14

“These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings…”

Introduction — Do Not Mistake His Meekness for Weakness

When Jesus first came, He came in humility.

He was born in Bethlehem.

He was laid in a manger.

He allowed sinful men to arrest Him.

He allowed soldiers to mock Him.

He allowed them to place a crown of thorns upon His head.

He allowed nails to pierce His hands and feet.

He allowed Himself to be crucified.

Isaiah described Him as:

“…a lamb to the slaughter.”

But do not misunderstand the Lamb.

His meekness is not weakness.

His patience is not inability.

His mercy is not powerlessness.

Because Revelation tells us:

THE LAMB WILL OVERCOME!

1. THE WORLD WILL MAKE WAR AGAINST THE LAMB

Revelation 17:14 says:

“These will make war with the Lamb…”

Humanity has been resisting God since Genesis.

Pharaoh resisted God.

Kings resisted God.

Nations resisted God.

Religious leaders rejected Christ.

Rome crucified Christ.

And Revelation shows humanity’s rebellion reaching its climax.

But what happens?

The verse does not leave us wondering.

“…and the Lamb will overcome them.”

There is no uncertainty.

There is no possibility of Christ losing.

The outcome has already been declared.

THE LAMB WINS.

2. THE SAVIOR IS ALSO THE JUDGE

One of the most sobering expressions in Revelation appears in Revelation 6:16:

“…hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!”

Think about those words:

“THE WRATH OF THE LAMB.”

The same Jesus who offers mercy today will one day execute judgment.

Today His arms are extended in mercy.

Today the Gospel is being proclaimed.

Today sinners are invited to repent.

Today forgiveness is offered.

But the Bible warns us that God’s patience must never be mistaken for indifference toward sin.

Second Peter 3:9 tells us that God is longsuffering because He desires people to come to repentance.

Therefore:

COME TO THE LAMB WHILE MERCY IS BEING OFFERED.

3. THE LAMB IS KING OF KINGS

Revelation 17:14 explains why the Lamb wins:

“…for He is Lord of lords and King of kings.”

Earth has seen many kings.

Many kingdoms have risen.

Many empires have appeared powerful.

Egypt rose and fell.

Babylon rose and fell.

Medo-Persia rose and fell.

Greece rose and fell.

Rome rose and fell.

Every earthly kingdom eventually disappears.

But Daniel 7:14 speaks of Christ’s kingdom:

“His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away.”

Jesus Christ will never be voted out.

He will never be overthrown.

He will never grow old.

He will never surrender His throne.

THE KINGDOM OF THE LAMB IS ETERNAL.

4. THE LAMB IS COMING FOR HIS BRIDE

Revelation 19:7 declares:

“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”

Notice the words:

“MADE HERSELF READY.”

The Bride is preparing for the Bridegroom.

Church, are we ready?

This is not the time for spiritual sleep.

This is not the time for lukewarm Christianity.

This is not the time to fall in love with the world.

This is not the time to abandon prayer.

This is not the time to compromise holiness.

This is the time to:

Watch.

Pray.

Repent.

Preach.

Worship.

Serve.

Remain faithful.

The Bridegroom is coming.

5. THE LAMB WILL DWELL WITH HIS PEOPLE

The Bible’s story does not end with destruction.

It ends with restoration.

Revelation 21:3 declares:

“Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them…”

Then verse 4 gives one of Scripture’s most beautiful promises:

“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.”

Think about that world.

No funerals.

No graves.

No hospitals.

No death.

No sorrow.

No crying.

No pain.

No Satan.

No curse.

No separation from God.

And Revelation 22:3 says:

“…the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it.”

The Lamb who died to bring us to God will dwell with His redeemed people forever.

6. THE SERVANTS OF THE LAMB WILL SEE HIS FACE

Revelation 22:4 gives an extraordinary promise:

“They shall see His face…”

For generations believers have worshiped Christ without physically seeing Him.

We pray by faith.

We worship by faith.

We walk by faith.

We preach by faith.

We endure by faith.

But there is coming a day when faith becomes sight.

“THEY SHALL SEE HIS FACE.”

The greatest blessing of heaven is not gold.

It is not the gates of pearl.

It is not the New Jerusalem.

It is not freedom from suffering.

The greatest treasure of eternity is:

JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF.

FINAL CLOSING — FROM THE CROSS TO THE THRONE

Look at the journey of the Lamb.

At Bethlehem—

The Lamb came.

At Jordan—

The Lamb was identified.

At Calvary—

The Lamb was slain.

At the tomb—

The Lamb rose.

In Revelation 5—

The Lamb stands.

In Revelation 17—

The Lamb overcomes.

In Revelation 19—

The Lamb receives His Bride.

In Revelation 21—

The Lamb dwells with His people.

In Revelation 22—

The throne belongs to God and the Lamb.

Therefore the message of the Church must remain:

BEHOLD THE LAMB!

And the worship of heaven remains:

WORTHY IS THE LAMB!

And the prophecy of Revelation remains:

THE LAMB WILL OVERCOME!

And the hope of the Church remains:

THE KING IS COMING!

So prepare your heart.

Keep your lamp burning.

Guard your testimony.

Hold tightly to the Word of God.

Do not compromise with this world.

Do not surrender to fear.

Do not abandon the faith.

Because the Lamb who was slain is alive.

The Lamb who is alive is reigning.

And the Lamb who is reigning—

IS COMING AGAIN!

Final Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing the glory of Your Son. Lord Jesus, You are the Lamb who was slain, the Lamb who rose, the Lamb who stands before the throne, and the King who will overcome every enemy.

Prepare Your Church for Your coming. Purify our hearts. Awaken those who are sleeping. Strengthen those who are weary. Call sinners to repentance. Give Your people courage to stand when the world demands compromise.

Keep our eyes upon You until the day when faith becomes sight and we behold Your glory.

Until then, let the cry of our hearts be:

Worthy is the Lamb!

Come, Lord Jesus!

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ,
