Bible Facts Of The Day, September 16, 2026 “Daniel The Prophet, Seventy Weeks Prophecy – Part II”

PART II — THE 70TH WEEK: ISRAEL AND THE TRIBULATION

Daniel 9:27

Daniel writes:

“Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.”

The final prophetic week represents seven years.

Daniel then divides that week at its midpoint.

Therefore:

First half — 3½ years

Midpoint — covenant broken and abomination

Second half — 3½ years

This same prophetic measurement appears in Revelation:

42 months — Revelation 11:2

1,260 days — Revelation 11:3

“Time and times and half a time” — Revelation 12:14

Jesus Himself pointed His disciples back to Daniel:

“Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet…”
—Matthew 24:15

Jesus then declared:

“For then there will be great tribulation…”
—Matthew 24:21

This is why Daniel’s 70th week is so important to the pre-tribulation understanding of prophecy.

Furthermore, Daniel 9:24 says the prophecy concerns:

“your people” — Israel

and

“your holy city” — Jerusalem.

Jeremiah 30:7 similarly describes a coming period as:

“the time of Jacob’s trouble.”

Jacob is Israel.

Therefore, pre-tribulation theology understands the 70th week as a period in which God’s prophetic dealings with Israel and Jerusalem come again into special focus.

“Maranatha! Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”
