Bible Facts Of The Day, October 04, 2026 “HELL — THE JUDGMENT WE MUST NOT IGNORE – Part II”

PART II — WHY DOES A LOVING GOD JUDGE?

“HOLY, HOLY, HOLY”

Romans 3:23

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

One of the most common questions concerning hell is:

“How can a loving God judge people?”

But before asking about God’s judgment, we must understand God’s character.

God is loving.

But God is also:

Holy.

Righteous.

Just.

Job 8:20 says:

Behold, God will not cast away the blameless,
Nor will He uphold the evildoers.

Psalm 89:14 says:

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne…”

God’s love does not cancel His justice.

And God’s justice does not cancel His love.

They meet perfectly in His character.

1. GOD IS HOLY

Habakkuk 1:13 says:

“You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness.”

God does not become accustomed to sin.

God does not lower His holiness to accommodate humanity.

Instead, humanity must be reconciled to God.

2. EVERY PERSON HAS SINNED

Romans 3:10 says:

“There is none righteous, no, not one.”

And Romans 3:23 declares:

“For all have sinned…”

Therefore the problem is universal.

The problem is not merely murderers.

Not merely criminals.

Not merely people whom society considers wicked.

The problem is sin within humanity.

Romans 5:12 teaches that sin entered the world through Adam and death through sin.

Humanity needs more than improvement.

Humanity needs:

REDEMPTION.

3. GOD DOES NOT DELIGHT IN THE DEATH OF THE WICKED

Ezekiel 33:11 declares:

“As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live.”

Listen to God’s appeal:

TURN AND LIVE.

God’s warning of judgment is accompanied by a call to repentance.

Second Peter 3:9 says that God is:

“…not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

4. THE CROSS SHOWS BOTH JUSTICE AND LOVE

At Calvary we see something extraordinary.

God did not pretend sin did not exist.

Christ bore our sins.

1 Peter 2:24

“Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree…”

At the cross we see:

God’s holiness.

God’s justice.

God’s mercy.

God’s love.

The cross tells us that sin was so serious that Christ had to die—

but God’s love was so great that Christ willingly came to save sinners.

“Maranatha! Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”
