PART 2 — “THE TEARS OVER JERUSALEM”

Introduction

Jesus was entering Jerusalem triumphantly while crowds shouted “Hosanna!” Yet while the people celebrated, Jesus wept.

Why?

Because He saw beyond the celebration.
He saw judgment coming.

1. Jesus Weeps Over Spiritual Blindness

Jerusalem had:

• the prophets,
• the Scriptures,
• the temple,
• and the promises.

Yet they rejected their Messiah.

The greatest tragedy is not poverty or sickness—it is rejecting Christ.

Key Truth

A person can be religious and still spiritually blind.

2. Jesus Saw The Coming Judgment

Within decades, Jerusalem would be destroyed.

Christ wept because people refused repentance.

God is loving, but He is also holy.

Modern society celebrates sin while rejecting truth:

• immorality,
• pride,
• rebellion,
• idolatry,
• false religion.

Jesus still weeps over nations that refuse Him.

3. The Heart of God Desires Salvation

Jesus did not rejoice over judgment.
He cried.

God takes no pleasure in destruction.

Ezekiel 33:11

“I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked…”

The tears of Christ reveal the mercy of God before judgment falls.

4. Don’t Miss Your Visitation

Jesus said Jerusalem did not recognize “the time of your visitation.”

God visits people through:

• conviction,
• preaching,
• dreams,
• suffering,
• Scripture,
• and the Holy Spirit.

But many resist Him.

Warning

Do not harden your heart when Jesus calls.

Conclusion

The tears of Jesus over Jerusalem were tears of rejected love.

Today Christ still calls sinners to repentance before it is too late.

Closing Prayer

Father in Heaven,
We thank You for Your mercy and patience toward humanity. Lord, forgive us for the times we have ignored Your voice, resisted conviction, or taken Your grace lightly.

Open our spiritual eyes so that we may recognize Your visitation. Remove every hardness of heart and every spiritual blindness from our lives. Let true repentance arise in Your people once again.

Lord Jesus, just as You wept over Jerusalem, we pray for our cities, our nations, our churches, and our families. Turn hearts back to You before judgment comes. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon this generation.

Help us to walk in truth, holiness, and obedience. May we never reject the love of Christ.

We thank You for Your mercy that still calls sinners home.
