PART II – Kidron: The Valley Where Idols Die
Before entering Gethsemane, every idol must be surrendered.
Introduction
Throughout Israel’s history, idols were cast into Kidron and destroyed.
The valley became a place of cleansing.
Before Jesus entered Gethsemane, He crossed through the place where idols had been judged.
Main Points
1. God Reveals Hidden Idols
Not only statues but:
- Pride
- Comfort
- Reputation
- Success
- Self-will
2. Idols Compete With God’s Authority
Anything that controls us more than God is an idol.
3. God Must Break What Replaces Him
The Lord loves us too much to let idols rule our hearts.
Application
Ask:
- What am I unwilling to surrender?
- What would devastate me more than losing fellowship with God?
Closing Challenge
You cannot carry idols into Gethsemane.
Heavenly Father,
Search our hearts and reveal anything that has taken Your rightful place in our lives. Remove every idol of pride, self-will, comfort, success, fear, or worldly desire that competes with our devotion to You.
Lord, give us the courage to lay these things down in our Kidron Valley and trust You completely. Purify our hearts, strengthen our faith, and help us to love You above all else.
Prepare us for our Gethsemane by teaching us complete surrender. May nothing stand between us and Your perfect will.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior,
Amen.
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
