PART III – THEY SHALL BE FILLED

Introduction

Jesus gives one of the greatest promises in the Beatitudes.

He does not simply say the hungry are blessed.

He promises they shall be filled.

God never ignores sincere spiritual hunger.

I. Christ Is Our Righteousness

The believer does not earn righteousness.

We receive it.

2 Corinthians 5:21 declares,

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Jesus became our substitute.

His righteousness becomes ours.

We stand accepted before God because of Christ.

II. God Continues Filling Those Who Seek Him

The Christian life is continual growth.

Every day we seek:

• more wisdom,
• more holiness,
• more love,
• more faith,
• more obedience.

James 1:5 promises,

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God.”

God delights in filling hungry hearts.

The more we seek Him, the more He reveals Himself.

III. Our Greatest Satisfaction Awaits Heaven

Although believers experience God’s presence now, complete satisfaction awaits eternity.

Revelation 7:16-17 promises,

“They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore…For the Lamb…will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters.”

Every longing of the believer will finally be satisfied.

No more temptation.

No more sin.

No more spiritual dryness.

Only perfect fellowship with Christ forever.

Practical Applications

Make these habits part of your daily life:

• Begin each morning with God’s Word before feeding on the world’s distractions.
• Pray daily for a deeper hunger for righteousness.
• Guard your heart against anything that dulls your appetite for Christ.
• Encourage others to grow spiritually through your words and example.
• Remember that true satisfaction is found in Christ alone.

Conclusion

God created physical hunger so we would seek daily bread.

He created spiritual hunger so we would seek the Bread of Life.

Every born-again believer has been given a new heart, a new mind, and a new desire through the Holy Spirit.

May we never lose our appetite for the Word of God.

May we hunger for holiness more than comfort.

May we thirst for God’s presence more than the pleasures of this world.

And may we continue seeking the righteousness that is found in Jesus Christ until the day we stand before Him, completely satisfied in His glorious presence.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for creating within us a hunger that reaches beyond the things of this world. Thank You for giving us new life through Your Son, Jesus Christ, and for placing within us the desire to know You more deeply. Increase our appetite for Your Word, strengthen us through Your Holy Spirit, and help us to hunger and thirst for righteousness each day. Guard our hearts from becoming satisfied with the temporary things of this world, and fill us instead with Your wisdom, holiness, and love. May our lives reflect the mind of Christ and inspire others to seek You. We look forward to the day when every longing will be fully satisfied in Your eternal presence.
