BIBLE FACTS OF THE DAY

  • Bible Facts Of The Day, January 24, 2026 “Judged by the Light You’re Given”

    January 24th, 2026

    Introduction

We often assume judgment is unfair—“What about those who didn’t know?”

    • Paul confronts both the religious and the irreligious with one truth:
      God is perfectly just.
    • Romans 2 dismantles false confidence in morality, heritage, and knowledge.

God judges every person fairly, based on the revelation they received.

    I. Sin Is Universal (Romans 2:12a)

    “As many as have sinned…”

    • Paul begins with a shared reality: everyone has sinned
    • Gentiles sinned without the Law
    • Jews sinned with the Law

The issue is not what you had—but what you did with it.

    Supporting Scriptures:

    • Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
    • Psalm 14:2–3 The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men,
To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
3 They have all turned aside,
      They have together become corrupt;
There is none who does good,
      No, not one.

    Application:
No one escapes accountability by ignorance or religion.

II. Revelation Determines Responsibility (Romans 2:12b)

    A. Those Without the Law

    “Will also perish without law”

    • Gentiles lacked written Scripture
    • They still had:
      • Creation (Romans 1:19–20)
      • Conscience (Romans 2:14–15)

God never judges people for what they never knew—only for what they did know.

    B. Those Under the Law

“Will be judged by the law”

    • The Jews possessed God’s Word
    • The Law revealed God’s will clearly
    • But possession does not equal obedience

    Greater light brings greater accountability
(Luke 12:48) But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

    Illustration:
A student with the textbook has no excuse for ignoring the test material.

III. Knowledge Does Not Equal Righteousness (Romans 2:13)

    • Hearing the Law does not justify
    • Knowing Scripture does not save
    • Obedience reveals true faith

    Key Warning:
Religious familiarity can create false security.

    Supporting Scriptures:

    • James 1:22  But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
    • Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

    Application:
Church attendance and Bible knowledge are not substitutes for repentance and faith.

IV. God’s Judgment Is Perfectly Fair (Romans 2:11)

“For there is no partiality with God.”

    • God does not favor:
      • Culture
      • Background
      • Education
      • Religious heritage

Every person stands equal before God’s justice.

    V. The Gospel Hope (Transition to Romans 3)

    • Romans 2 removes every false refuge
    • Romans 3 reveals the true rescue

The Law exposes guilt—Christ provides righteousness.

We are not saved by how much we knew
    but by whom we trust.

    Supporting Scriptures:

    • Romans 3:21–24
    • Galatians 3:24

    Conclusion

    Three Closing Truths:

    1. Everyone has sinned
    2. Everyone is accountable
    3. Jesus is the only Savior

    Final Call:

    • Do not trust in knowledge
    • Do not trust in morality
    • Trust in Christ alone

    Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
